PAST SIMPLE TENSE

We use the past simple to describe completed actions that happened in the past.

(Action in the past taking place once, never or several time, ex, He visited his parents every day).

Yesterday, we went to the cinema.

Affirmative: I/you/he/she/ went to the cinema.

Negative: I didn´t go to the cinema.

Interrogative: Did I go to the cinema?

To form the interrogative and the negative we use the auxiliary verb “do” in past simple, so we use “did”

Negative form: I didn´t go to the cinema.       Subject+ auxiliary+ not+ verb in infinitive

Interrogative: Did I go to the cinema?               Auxiliary + Subject + verb in infinitive.
