PAST CONTINUOUS

                        Form: was/were + verb(ing)

We use it to describe actions which were in progress at specific points in the past.

                             Ex: At 1 o’clock , we were watching the football match on TV.

To describe a past action interrupted by another shorter one.

                             Ex: George was writing a letter when we arrived.

                                                                                

Affirmative:  She was playing cards.

Negative:          She wasn´t playing cards.

Interrogative: Was she playing cards?
